Destiny’s Door

Throughout life, our destiny keeps knocking at the door. But, it just seems like most of us are so preoccupied with life and living that we ignore the signs and messages… the knock at the door.

I believe we all came to our life with a destiny, but not a predetermined path or life. All of the conditions, people, places and decisions are set up by us and for us to live our destiny. Our life is what we make it to be. There is every chance that at any moment we can call in our destiny and live it. We can ask for help of this highest kind and are sure to get just the help needed. Help always arrives if we are listening and watching. If we are open the universe will respond in the most creative ways.

Oh, to be sure, help is not likely to be what we specifically thought we needed. While the warning “be careful what you ask for” is exactly right, even more important is to be careful what we ignore after we ask. Destiny collaborates to give us the fullest life we deserve. If we don’t get the messages, they will just get stronger and more intense until we do get it. In my experience the signs and messages for our destiny are mysterious, wonderful, and take a lot of work.

Our lives are capable of becoming more than we could imagine. When I am listening to life stories and all of the times that destiny comes knocking, I am continually dumbfounded at how hanging on to the past stops us from living our future. Fear of change — which is all driven by our ego — blocks us from living a life of miracles, wonder and love. That is what destiny has in store for all of us.

The next time destiny knocks at the door, open and walk through. The rewards for living our destiny are for eternity. Be who you were born to be!

Embracing Change

Change! Ahh… here’s a word that either makes you spread your arms in spirited welcome, stamp your foot in stubborn defiance, or cower in denial as it runs its inevitable course. Change is a catalyst designed to propel us to higher consciousness as we go through life’s journey; yet it can be grossly unappreciated, and sometimes highly feared. Its unexpected arrival can be soul-shaking to the core.

Change can be magical as in those moments when you meet someone who transforms your life forever. It’s during those times when you lose your footing and your life script is nowhere to be found, that destiny takes over and your wings start to grow. This can be exhilarating or terrifying. The good news is – we can always choose how to confront change.

There was a time when I would cringe whenever I pulled a divination card telling me I was about to undergo CHANGE. I could sense my feelings squirm as I bemoaned my unknown, impending challenges. Change meant facing my fears, doing something that my ego screamed against or – the worst – exposing my inadequacies.

As long as I believed this scenario, that is exactly what I called forth to myself. Thankfully, I can look back now and marvel at my timidity. Not to say that I didn’t experience palm-sweating moments of excruciating denial and angst – I did! But I have come to realize two things: (1) that with my particular nature, sometimes my assigned guardian angels, or ‘thought adjusters’ really need to ‘knock me upside the head’ to get me back on path; and (2) I can always choose how to confront change — openly with enthusiasm, realizing it is for my betterment no matter how it looks (or feels), or defiantly blocked wherein I might lose the opportunity to grow and have to repeat it in some other, possibly more dramatic form, down the road.

I have come to know change quite intimately in my life. As a seeker of true purpose and service, I am still in journey. I would like to report that change and I have become friends. Let’s just say that – at this point – change and I have a mutual understanding that the more I embrace it, the less I need it. Works for me, and I suspect it is one of the keys to happiness and freedom, as well as true self-empowerment for us all.

Settle-In or Freak-Out: Embracing Change

It’s a scientific fact that the vibrations of the earth are moving more rapidly than ever before. And, as such, scientists and spiritualists alike tell me this means that the pace of our lives are speeding up. Hmmm . . . .

Lately, it does feel like every day something significant happens — sometimes good, sometimes bad; sometimes personal, sometime to the collective whole. I’m old enough now to accept the fact that I can’t stop the waves of change, so I hold on to my surfboard and navigate them the best I can. Occasionally, a tsunami hits I go tumbling!

In those instances, often panic has found me flailing about, being sucked under by the current. What’s most scary for me during those times of uncertainty has been what the shoreline of my life will look like when I resurface. Having been tossed about after the loss of a job, loss of relationship, a move, etc., I found letting go of the comfort of the old, moving into something new, to be a most
frightening thing.

In time, I’ve learned that not resisting the current, but instead, quieting the mind, allowing the water to flow over me, is the most direct and pleasant way to float to the top. My mantra has become ‘do not freak-out, simply settle-in’.

In hindsight, the ebbs and flows that make up the voyage of my life have served me well. When I find myself panicking in the midst of change, I take an inventory of my past. I revisit times that I felt afraid of change and I recognize how the fear was unproductive, paralyzing and really unnecessary. In fact, amazing miracles I never could have imagined, resulted from what I viewed as some of the most terrifying changes in my life. I see now there was nothing to fear, only opportunity to be seized.

Fight it or flow with it, shifts are happening rapidly. Resisting the inevitable evolution of life only limits vision and wastes precious energy; energy that is better spent focusing on the possibilities our new situation could bring. However we choose to approach the tidal-waves of change, we will always resurface. If we’re wise
enough to embrace the uncertainty rather than fight it, we can’t help but emerge stronger, sturdier, and even happier, than before.
