“Happy” Friday, February 8, 2013

The goal is to post a “happy” quote, statistic, article, news item, or event on Fridays.  I love the idea as it creates joyful ripples in our thoughts, hearts and actions. I invite you to share with me anything that you stumble upon as it might be featured in our “happy” Friday posts.

This week I discovered that there is more positive news out in the world than I thought.  It made me happy.  One excellent resource is  Unified Caring Association’s Positive News Network.  Another inspirational site is the Huffington Post’s Happiness section.  It’s full of information about happiness and even lists the top 10 happiest places on the internet.  Now who doesn’t need that?

If you’re looking for a step-by-step program that will allow you the opportunity to reflect and deepen your understanding of happiness then check out the Living Good Program and the Happiness Program.   In a few short hours, your perspective and understanding will shift.

Happy Friday!!!

Mind Matters

I see miracles everywhere . . . From childbirth to charity, open your eyes to it, and goodness prevails.

And negativity is pervasive. The media, gossip, tales of greed are easily accessible and serve to instill and perpetuate fear. Still, I choose to see miracles.

I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention here that I’ve been accused of viewing the world through rose-colored glasses. I tend to see the good in all things. My sometimes blind hope and failure to acknowledge unpleasant truths can leave me unenlightened about important global events, and hurt in personal relationships. Yes. Got it. Working on it. I’m eternally grateful for my therapist!

That said I fully believe that if more people focused their attention on what’s good in this world, we would be a decidedly happier society. We’ve lost touch with the collective power we have to affect the Universe with our positive energy. When the majority of us are focused on light, we will yield profound result.

Yes, one must face realities, fears, injustices — there are more atrocities in the world than my sunshine and rainbow brain can comprehend. Nevertheless, we do have choices: Do we want to get lost in the sadness by ruminating in the shame of it all and our pity for the victims? Certainly there is a time and place for expressing our discontent.  But if we stop there, we cannot effect change. By energetically staying in the negative we are at best, paralyzed; at worst, perpetuating Universal darkness.

While in so many situations we appear to be helpless, positive change begins when we move our awareness to the next step, which is reconnecting with the power of Universal intention. Sometimes all we can do is send positive energy and prayers to people that are suffering. Even doing just that empowers us to interact with the world from a place of positive action. It begins to change our way of thinking from hopeless to hopeful. Energetically, we move past paralysis and into movement..

Once we’ve let go, all sorts of possibilities for light will appear. We may choose to show our support with money or time. We may make a more conscious effort to model integral behavior, cease gossip, filter and limit exposure to the media etc. Concrete action is necessary to change the world. But it all begins when we accept responsibility for the influence our thoughts and attitudes have. When we empower our intentions with light, we infuse our behavior with Universal goodness. This is the mindset that will
change the world.

Love,
Millie
